Sports called Death

FS Blog dated April 4, 2007

I am a big boxing fan. My website will show it. Definitely it is not only because of the pacmania fever but because of my early inclination to the sport. But now I am in the brink of turning my back to it due to some hapless events just came out recently. Lito Sisnorio, former WBC youth champion died due to blood clot in his brain after suffering a knockout against a Thailander, Sasakul, last week. What a tragedy in a sports known as "the sweet science". Now it is turning to become the hard, brutal science.

Report shows that Sisnorio fought illegaly there. It means that he went to Thailand without the approval of GAB, the sports governing body of the Philippines. Nevertheless, what transpired is still a dent, i mean another dent, to the ever falling integrity of the sport. Not to mention the controversy brought by the previous questionable fights like the De Leon-Penalosa as well as the Montiel-Gorrez clashes.

But I don’t know why. After all these events I still found myself believing that one day everything will be alright. I am now moving to a more brutal sports called the MIXED-MARTIAL ARTS popularized by UFC, not the banana catsup, or Ultimate Fighting Championship. It seems to be more brutal since different marial arts styles are facing each other but I found it to become a safer sport as there were no  deadly incidents accured, maybe just yet.

Election is about to come. Maybe this sports called boxing be considered to become one of the politicians agenda after winning the polls. Please give Sisnorio his fare share of justice. After all he deserves to be acknowledged as he paid it with his pricy life.
