May 14, 2007 National election is over. While most of my colleagues and co-teachers are still inside their precincts, right now at 10:30 pm, doing the ever-tiring completion of the results, I am here writing a blog. The fact that I am a newly appointed chairman of the Board of Election Inspector will surely create a nasty look at some of the readers. With that 3000 pesos inside my left pocket right now, after finally submitting my paraphernalia to the COMELEC, here I am. 3000 pesos in cold cash richer. And though it is my first time to sit as chair, I am proud to say that my team is the third fastest to finish this race all throughout the municipality.
But as I was walking past the Pob. Sur Brgy Hall, amidst the lights I was nearly scared of a gubernatorial candidates statements in a streamer. It says " Manalo o matalo, ang kalaba’y di uupo!". It seems to be a word of warning. But the real scary part is the continuation which perhaps was just added by some walang-magawa. It continues by saying "…manapa’y hihiga!
I don’t know how this statement will be for real ( I hope it won’t). But this is just the nature of Philippine politics. The election time has already closed its curtains but the show isn’t over yet. SO watch out.
